An OCULAR Interface Exclusive
Dry Eye Disease (DED) is a common yet often underdiagnosed condition affecting millions globally, impacting not only vision but also quality of life. This July, OCULAR Interface proudly joined the global movement to mark Dry Eye Awareness Month, dedicating its platforms and programmes to educate, empower, and engage the public and professionals alike.
Spotlighting a Silent Epidemic
Dry Eye Disease can result from multiple factors including prolonged screen use, environmental conditions, ageing, hormonal changes, and systemic medications. Yet, it is frequently overlooked or mistaken for other conditions. Symptoms such as burning, stinging, fluctuating vision, and a sensation of grittiness are often dismissed until they interfere with daily functioning.
OCULAR Interface recognised the urgent need to elevate public understanding and promote early intervention. Through a series of digital campaigns, educational webinars, and collaborative initiatives, we placed Dry Eye Disease firmly in the spotlight.
Empowering Practitioners and Patients
As part of our commitment to knowledge-sharing, OCULAR Interface released open-access educational materials for optometrists and eye care practitioners. These included clinical guides on the use of in-practice diagnostics, dry eye grading scales, and updates on the role of meibography and AI in identifying early-stage dysfunction.
Patients were not left behind—interactive symptom checklists, lifestyle tips, and myth-busting posts encouraged proactive conversations with their eye care providers. Our multilingual approach ensured that information was accessible across diverse populations.
Advocating for Long-Term Change
Beyond awareness, OCULAR Interface advocates for sustainable eye health solutions. We continue to collaborate with stakeholders to push for increased recognition of DED in national eye care strategies. By investing in research, promoting technological innovation, and amplifying patient voices, we aim to make dry eye care more equitable, and evidence based.
Looking Ahead
Dry Eye Awareness Month may last for a few weeks, but its impact can be long-lasting. OCULAR Interface remains committed to advancing eye health through education, research, and ethical innovation. As we move forward, we invite our community—patients, professionals, and policymakers—to join us in prioritising comfort, clarity, and care for all.
